At EM Tuition, we work with learners across Essex who require alternative provision, mentoring, and emotional support to help them re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.
We are currently seeking compassionate and reliable Learning Mentors to support children and young people on a 1:1 basis.

The Role – Learning Mentor / Alternative Provision Mentor
You will support children and young people on a 1:1 basis outside of mainstream education, focusing on building positive relationships and supporting engagement.
As a Learning Mentor, your work will be centred around emotional support, confidence-building, and helping learners access education in a way that works for them.
Who You’ll Support
You will support learners who may experience:
- SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)
- Autism / ADHD
- Anxiety or emotionally based school avoidance (EBSNA)
- Low confidence or self-esteem
- Behavioural challenges
- Disrupted education or school disengagement
What You’ll Do
- Build strong, positive relationships with learners
- Support learners to re-engage with education
- Improve confidence and emotional wellbeing
- Develop routines and independence
- Support social and communication skills
- Deliver engagement-based and structured support sessions
Sessions take place during school hours in:
- Students’ homes
- Community settings
- Schools or alternative provisions
- Occasionally online
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people
- Experience supporting individuals with SEN/additional needs is desirable
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
- Ability to travel across Essex and surrounding areas
Experience within education, youth work, support work, care, coaching, or mentoring is highly beneficial.
