The Role – Alternative Provision Tutor (Post-16)
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Alternative Provision Tutor to support post-16 learners in Cambridge.
This role involves working 1:1 with students outside of mainstream education, delivering tailored support to help them achieve Functional Skills, GCSE qualifications, and A levels.
As an Alternative Provision Tutor, you will deliver highly personalised sessions that are adapted to each learner’s needs, pace, and environment.
Who You’ll Support
You will support learners aged 16+ who may have:
- SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)
- Autism / ADHD
- Gaps in education or disrupted learning
What You’ll Do
- Deliver English, Maths and Science (Functional Skills, GCSE & A levels)
- Adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs
- Build confidence, engagement, and independence
Sessions take place during school hours in:
- Homes
- Community settings
- Occasionally online
Essential Requirements
- QTS or proven teaching experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching SEN learners
- Experience delivering GCSE, A levels and/or Functional Skills (English, Science & Maths)
- Strong ability to differentiate and adapt learning
