The Essence of the Tutoring Programme 2024-2025

The National Tutoring Programme (NTP) was an initiative supported by the UK government, designed to bridge learning gaps, especially for the most disadvantaged students, using targeted academic support.

Eligible Students

All pupils from Y1 to Y11. PP-eligible & disadvantaged pupils should be prioritised, however you also have the discretion to offer tutoring to other pupils.

Funding

Mainstream schools: a minimum of £67.50 per PP-eligible pupil.
Special schools: a minimum of £176.25 per PP-eligible pupil

Group Sizes

Tutoring can be delivered in group sizes from 1:1 up to a maximum of 1:6, to maintain high-quality and impactful tuition.

Online or face-to-face

EM Tuition has face-to-face tutors all over the country. However, we can provide a suitable tutor even quicker if you consider online tuition.

Subjects

Maths, English and Science for primary school pupils. For secondary school pupils, there is Maths, English, Science, humanities and modern foreign languages.

NTP Coverage

You do not need to apply for NTP funding. Funding can be used to pay for up to 50% of the total cost incurred by your school to deliver tutoring.

SEND

Alternative tutoring interventions are available for pupils with SEND. Maintain small group sizes of 1:1 or 1:2 for pupils with SEND.

Scheduling

Tutoring courses should be 12 to 15 hours long to have a meaningful impact on pupil attainment. You may also wish to deliver longer courses.
